I am the son of Robert and Donna Tilley and was born and raised on Pond Road in Sydney Mines. I went through our local school system and went on to study business administration at ST. F.X. and obtained my professional accounting designation. I have been married to my wife Jean for 12 years and have a beautiful daughter Emily. Like so many Cape Bretoners I had to leave home to find work. I have worked within the retail grocery industry, construction, fish processing and harvesting and my true love post secondary education. For 10 years I gained valuable experience in several industries but longed to be home to raise my family. I am currently Academic Chair for the school of Business, and Information Technology at Marconi Campus. I am a hard worker and strong competitor and give my all to anything that I get involved in.
Throughout my career I have always been active in my community. Currently, I am one of two Northside representatives on the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board. Also, I am currently treasurer of the Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce, Food and Beverage chair for the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for life and I sit on the Board of Directors of New Deal Development here in Sydney Mines. I am a member of the community council for Junior Achievement in Cape Breton. I currently sit on a committee with Community Cares Youth Outreach to develop a youthbuild project in Sydney Mines.
